Northern News Services

Yellowknife (Oct 01/04) - Monday marks the beginning of the fifth annual Week of Awareness and Education. Premier Joe Handley will be on hand in the Great Hall of the Legislative Assembly to help kick off Family Violence Awareness Week.

This year the focus is on children and youth, and how early relationships set the stage for later problems with alcohol, drugs, abusive relationships, low self-esteem and eating disorders.

The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and will feature the band Mandeville Drive, a lunch provided by GNWT Health and Social Services, and a 20-minute helicopter ride door prize from Great Slave Helicopter Ltd.
