Man sues over failed tender

Enterprise (Oct 18/04) - A businessman has sued after not winning a tender from the Enterprise Settlement Corporation.

Karl Mueller Construction Ltd. was not awarded a three-year garbage collection and disposal contract, despite submitting the lowest of three tender bids in March.

Mueller says he found council's action unbelievable. "No one has any idea what goes on here in Enterprise, money-wise."

The respondents in the lawsuit are the Enterprise Settlement Corporation, Mayor Winnie Cadieux, two councillors and the former senior administrative officer.

According to information from the settlement office, the contract was awarded to Hay River Disposals, which bid $19,474 per year.

The office did not have information on the other tenders.

Mueller says his bid was $12,157 per year.

This is not the first time the 75-year-old Mueller -- an outspoken former councillor -- has sued the settlement.

By his own count, he has taken it to court three or four times before.
