Inuvik (Sep 27/04) - Four Beaufort-Delta Gwich'in councils will unite with the Yukon First Nations Council.

The Fort McPherson Tetlit Gwich'in, the Gwichya Gwich'in Council in Tsiigehtchic, the Nihtat Gwich'in council in Inuvik and the Aklavik Indian Band signed an agreement with the YFN in Whitehorse last week.

"We decided we should partner up and that all First Nations should sit at the same table. We all have the same issues, no matter where we come from," said Fort McPherson Tetlit Gwich'in Chief Johnny Kay.

Kay said now that the signing has occurred, the councils will meet again in October in the Yukon.

The other participating chiefs from the Beaufort-Delta were unavailable for comment.
