12 drug complaints in two weeks

Yellowknife (Sep 22/04) - From Sept. 5-19 RCMP responded to 469 calls for service. Approximately 138 of these involved calls to assist with intoxicated persons.

There were 20 break ins reported during this time period. Fourteen involved break-ins to residences and six were business break-ins. Among the items stolen were generators, cash, keys, wallets, food, tools and a Sony Playstation.

There were six reports of possession of marijuana. Two persons were charged with possession of cocaine and one person was charged with trafficking in cocaine.

There were 45 assaults reported. Thirty-nine of these included common assaults and domestic disputes. Six of these included assaults with a weapon. Items used as weapons include a bat and a knife.

There were 24 reports of impaired driving made to the RCMP detachment. Four persons were charged with impaired driving, two 24-hour suspensions were issued and one person was charged with driving while prohibited as a result.

There was one robbery reported. There was one motor vehicle collision reported where damages involved were over $1,000. Seven motor vehicles were reported stolen, and all were recovered.

There were three sexual assaults reported. Four shoplifters were reported. Among the items stolen were music CD's and food. Nine traffic tickets were issued.
