Iqaluit (Sep 20/04) - Dr. Geraldine Osbourne, Nunavut's new assistant chief medical officer of health, is settling into her office in Iqaluit.

She says the "low health status" of the population in Nunavut is her main concern.

The department of health and social services is in a period of transition right now. Dr. James Talbot, Nunavut's current chief medical officer of health, is leaving this month, so it's been hard for Osbourne to nail down her priorities for this year.
