Every spring the hamlet organizes a community cleanup. This year the event took place from June 21 to 30.
Ena Ann, recreation coordinator for the hamlet, said this year 50 people participated in the cleanup.
"We need to keep our community clean. It's a good event for everyone," she said.
Sarah Qaqqaq is probably one of the most dedicated community cleaners.
"I think it's important," she said. "It makes our community a better place to live."
During the cleanup week, Qaqqaq, who is also the community health representative, goes on the radio to encourage people to get involved. "Kids say to their parents not to litter because Sarah doesn't like it," she said. "If I can get the community aware of the garbage then I think I've made a difference," she said.
