Will there be recount?

Northern News Services

Yellowknife (July 05/04) - Voters will have to wait until the end of this week before a decision will be made on a recount.

According to New Democratic Party campaign spokesperson Don Babby, the official results of the June 28 election in the Northwest Territories won't be ready until that time.

Only after they are in will the NDP consider a recount.

NDP candidate Dennis Bevington lost to incumbent Ethel Blondin-Andrew by 52 votes.

"Once we have the official numbers, we have a certain number of days to petition the court," said Babby.

He said the NDP has some questions about how the vote was carried out in some polling stations.
