Yellowknife (May 19/04) - The book, with 20 unsold raffle tickets, was sitting on the counter at the St. Pat's Church flea market, but now it's gone.

"Theresa was busy with a customer. She turned around and the book was gone, just like that," said Jim Wylie, a member of the NWT and Yellowknife Senior Societies.

At $20 a piece, the stolen book is valued at $400.

Stolen during the last week of April, the book was one of 80 being sold by the NWT Seniors' Society to raise money for trips to the Canadian Seniors' Games in Whitehorse this September.

Between 35 and 40 seniors from the NWT will be joining 800-900 other participants from across Canada at the games.

Anyone asked to buy tickets numbered 0551-0575, should call the RCMP.

Tickets are $20. First prize in the raffle is a Chevrolet Epica, valued at $27,790, with $5,000 going to the runner-up.

Anyone wanting to purchase tickets should contact the Baker Community Centre at 873-9475. The draw will be held July 30 at the Baker Community Centre.
