Yellowknife (May 19/04) - From May 3 to 16 police responded to 528 calls for service and police attended 164 calls to assist intoxicated persons.

There were 10 business break-ins reported to police. Items taken included cash and liquor.

One residential break-in was reported to police. Police attended and located the suspect inside of the residence. One 18-year-old Yellowknife male will be charged in relation to this offence.

Police received four complaints of theft from vehicles. Items stolen included a helmet, DVD player and movies.

There were two complaints received about drug activity in Yellowknife. As a result, one person was charged with possession of marijuana.

There were 43 complaints of assaults received including common fights and domestic disputes.

Six assault with a weapon complaints were received. Items used in these assaults included knives and a beer bottle.

There were 14 complaints of impaired driving received. Two people were charged with impaired driving, and two roadside suspensions were issued.

There were four motor vehicle accidents involving damages over $1,000 and one motor vehicle accident involving damages under $1,000.

Ten shoplifters were reported to police. Items stolen included meat, computer games, candy, DVDs, batteries, alcohol and juice.

Ten traffic tickets were issued.
