Wha Ti (Apr 26/04) - Mezi community school's Winter Carnival Day was held on Thursday, April 8.

The whole school participated in the day-long events: outdoors in the morning and indoor challenges in the afternoon.

The K-9 students were divided into teams with two divisions: primary (K-4), and elementary (5-9).

The high school students were either station leaders or team leaders.

There were seven stations where two teams would compete against one another for snow bowling, snowshoe racing, chicken egg relay, mummy wrap, ice cube scavenger hunt, cardboard sleigh pull, spoon zoom, beanbag toss and Frisbee throw.

The morning ended with a hot chocolate social in the gymnasium before students headed home for lunch.

After lunch, student teams participated against the teachers in a balloon pop race and a ball between the knees race.

The "baby feed" competition was the last event of the day.

In this event, one partner wore a garbage bag and sat on a chair while the other partner stood blindfolded behind them and tried to feed pudding to the person sitting down.

Messy teachers

In most cases, the garbage bag was necessary!

The teachers got the worst of the messiness of misguided pudding, but the students and staff had a great time over all.

It was nice to see students from various Grades working together and having fun while doing it. The high school students showed excellent leadership in running the stations and leading the groups from one station to the next.

We can now look forward to warmer weather when we will have a similar spring sports fun day right before exams in June.
