43 assaults, 3 with weapon

Yellowknife (Apr 21/04) - From April 5 to 18, police responded to 466 calls for service.

Police attended 164 calls to assist intoxicated persons.

There were four break-ins reported to police.

Three of these included entry into residences and one involved a business.

Police received two complaints of possession of marijuana, and one person was charged with possession of cocaine.

Forty-three complaints of assaults were received, including common fights and domestic disputes.

Three complaints of assault with a weapon were received.

One report of a robbery was received where one individual punched another person and stole $5 worth of change from his pocket.

Eleven complaints of impaired driving were received.

Two 24-hour suspensions were issued and one person was charged with impaired driving.

Six motor vehicle accidents were reported to police. Four of these involved damage over $1,000 and two involved damage under $1,000.

There were two theft from motor vehicles reported. Items stolen included a jacket and gasoline.

There were two thefts of snowmobiles reported. One has been recovered and one is still outstanding.

Two complaints of sexual assault were received.

Eight reports of shoplifting were received. Items stolen included hairspray, Listerine, and food items.

Eight traffic tickets were issued.
