Nominations for the two-year position open April 28 and close May 15.
"It's hard to say what kind of election it will be," said Brian Alexie, chief electoral officer.
Alexie spent last week posting the dates around town after the hamlet council announced the dates during a regular meeting on April 13.
The voting will take place June 15 with an advance poll on June 8.
The hamlet is hosting a separate election for mayor after the Supreme Court of the NWT granted the hamlet a re-election.
Six people were allegedly allowed in after the polls closed during the December election.
The winning mayor, Philip Blake, won by one vote over incumbent mayor Gordon Clark.
