Iqaluit (Mar 08/04) - There will be some old and new faces in the cabinet of the second government of Nunavut.

Newly elected MLAs voted for seven cabinet ministers and a speaker of the house at the leadership forum, March 5 in Iqaluit.

Current cabinet ministers Olayuk Akesuk, Peter Kilabuk and Ed Picco will be joined by four newcomers to government. Leona Aglukkaq, Levinia Brown, David Simailak and Louis Tapardjuk were elected to the cabinet.

There will also be a familiar face directing the MLAs in discussion at the legislature.

Jobie Nutarak, the incumbent from Pond Inlet, was acclaimed as speaker of the house.

The positions will be made official after a motion is passed in the legislature, March 8.

Premier Paul Okalik didn't comment on when the cabinet ministers will be assigned their portfolios.
