The annual book drive, sponsored by the NWT Literacy Council with help from the Rotary Club, was a success this year.

Books donated in Yellowknife were collected by the Rotary Club and sent out to Northern communities without libraries or book stores.

This year Colville Lake, Gameti, and Wekweti saw a number of books come their way.

More than 45 boxes of books were delivered to the three communities by Air Tindi and North-Wright, free of charge.

Wekweti received 11 boxes and distributed the reading material with hot dogs and juice during a community event.

Whatever books remained were donated to the local school and learning centre.

Colville Lake also held a community event with food to go along with the books.

Nearly the entire town came out on December 2 to read, talk, and have fun, said Lisa Campbell.

In past years, books were sent to Wha Ti, Tuktoyaktuk, Aklavik, Deline and Holman.
