Yellowknife (Dec 03/03) - Coldwell Banker has tied for this year's Business Award of Merit.

The award was presented Wednesday by Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce president Jerry Jaud.

In business since 1983, this is Coldwell Banker's 20th year.

"We don't pound our chest a lot but community involvement is a big part of our business," said broker/owner Rod Stirling.

Fellow broker/owner Ken Pearman says being a contributing member of the Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce is also a big part of the Coldwell philosophy.

Among the unique aspects of Coldwell's marketing strategy is the development of their CD-Rom and Web site.

"We've had 230,000 hits on the site and it's locally produced," says Pearman.

The distribution of the CD-ROM has also been going well.

"We've had between 8,000 to 9,000 CD-ROMs issued all over the world," says Pearman.

Coldwell has long since played an active part of the community, putting back into sports teams, recreation facilities, the snowmobile club as well as hockey and soccer.
