The Resolute Bay Housing Association held its Annual General Meeting, Nov. 17 and the main topic of the evening was a shortage of housing in the community.
"We weren't allocated any development for 2003 but in 2004 we have been allocated a triplex dwelling," said Erin Brosha, manager of the association.
"Because we didn't get any housing last year, that has been a concern for some people," she added.
The new development should eliminate the waiting list for housing in Resolute Bay.
Though the development may not sound like a lot, Brosha said Resolute hasn't had the same housing problems as other Nunavut communities because of its smaller population.
"Our waiting list has been very small," she explained. "It was good news to get this new housing. We won't have any empty units for emergency situations but we will manage."
The plan for the triplex is to have one building with three individual units.
