After this year's near disaster, Dave Anderson, co-ordinator of the Yellowknife Event Support Agency, said people can expect quite an event next year.
"It's much better organized," said Anderson, adding this year's mistake was leaving things until the last minute.
President Ellie Sasseville said that the new board of directors are looking forward to next year's carnival.
The dates haven't been confirmed but Sasseville said people can expect good things this time around.
"We think things will move along smoothly this year, especially since we started organizing in September rather than January," she said.
In the next few weeks, Sasseville said a package will be put together to advertise for the event and for the position of co-ordinator.
Also, a public meeting will be held in the next few weeks to give the community a chance to voice any suggestions and provide input.
"We are really putting an effort forward and we're excited about it," she said.
"I think we have all of the necessary support this year."
Sasseville said organizers are doing their research to bring back some of the old traditions that used to make the carnival a success.
"It's those traditional events that people seemed to really enjoy so much, so we want to incorporate those (next) year," she said.
