Yellowknife (Oct 22/03) - Yellowknife firefighters may soon be fighting more than fires.

They may be fighting off admirers of the 2004 edition of their Arctic Heat calendar goes on sale next month.

Chief Mick Beauchamp said 12 men (the only female firefighter declined) will be showing not only their stuff, but the stuff of which the fire department is made.

"This is a fundraising venture for Stanton Territorial Hospital," Beauchamp said.

He said the department gets corporate help to sell the calendars across the North and donates the proceeds to the pediatric ward at the hospital.

"If we sell them all, we expect to raise about $20,000 to $30,000," he said.

Three previous editions of the calendar raised about $60,000 for the hospital.
