Yellowknife (Sep 05/03) - As election time draws near, Catholic and public school board trustee members must make decisions about whether they will seek another term or call it quits.

In Yellowknife Education District 1, Roy Desjarlais, last year's appointed chairperson, has decided against another term. He has chosen to run for MLA in the territorial election instead.

Terry Brookes said he is "pretty sure" about his decision to seek another term.

Ann Enge has decided against it, but hopes to return after undergoing surgery. "I enjoyed it," she said.

While Rob Meckling and Maureen Miller are currently undecided, Mildred Wilke has confirmed she will seek another term.

Dan Schofield could not be reached for comment.

Meanwhile in the Catholic board, chairperson Larry Purcka has confirmed he will run again.

Nancy Gardiner has decided to end her time with the board, while Raymond St. Arnaud and Shannon Gullberg are still undecided.

Debbi Ross, Mary Vane and Jane Haley could not be reached for comment.

Nominations for any additional candidates must be submitted by Sept. 25. The board elections run in conjunction with the city election on Oct. 20.
