Yellowknife (Sep 24/03) - Yellowknife RCMP are looking into the death of a 62-year-old man whose body was found on Niven Lake Trail early Sunday morning.

RCMP Const. Kerri Riehl said police do not suspect foul play. "There were no visible wounds," she said.

Nonetheless, the man's body has been shipped to Edmonton for an autopsy. "It will be a while before we know for certain what the cause of death was," said Riehl.

The man, a Yellowknife resident, was discovered on Sunday around 8:30 a.m. by joggers on the Niven Lake trail, close to a nearby ski trail on the west side of the lake.

The RCMP are waiting until the man's next of kin are notified before releasing his identity. Riehl said police are still continuing their investigation.
