Yellowknife (Aug 08/03) - The two youths who stole and crashed a car last month on the Ingraham Trail want their bikes back, says the car's owner.

The bikes are trapped in the back seat of her car, which was wrecked in the crash and now sits in her yard. She says the kids came to her house with their foster father recently and asked her to return the bikes.

But she's in no great hurry to return the bikes and says no one seems very concerned that her car was totalled.

"The words 'I'm sorry I stole your car' did not come from their lips," she said.

The children's foster mother declined to comment.

The driver of the car was 12 years old and the passenger was 8 years old. Yellowknifer previously reported the passenger was 10 years old.
