Yellowknife (Aug 29/03) - As school board elections approach, Catholic board members remain tight-lipped about their intentions for the next term.

Public and Catholic school board elections run in conjunction with the city election Oct. 20.

Yellowknifer managed to reach four of seven trustees. Two were on vacation and couldn't be reached.

Debbi Ross has served two terms as a trustee and is undecided whether she will seek her third term.

Raymond St. Arnaud is finishing up his first term as a trustee and is also undecided about his intentions.

Two trustees responded "no comment," when asked whether they were throwing their hat in for another go.

Mary Vane, who serves as the facilities chair, and Shannon Gullberg, who joined the board halfway through the current term, were unwilling to comment.

Chairperson Larry Purcka and vice-chair Jane Haley couldn't be reached for comment.

All ratepayers are eligible to vote and can cast their vote for either public or Catholic board trustees at election time, according to Mike Huvenaars, assistant superintendent of business for YCS.
