Man arrested in Ndilo assaults

Yellowknife (Aug 13/03) - A Ndilo man faces nine charges in connection with an incident Sunday morning.

RCMP went to a Ndilo home after receiving a complaint that an intoxicated man smashed windows and entered the residence. Once inside the home, the man allegedly assaulted the lone resident home with a knife and threatened to kill him.

Then he allegedly left that home, broke windows next door, entered that home and assaulted someone else.

After a short stand- off with police, he was arrested.

Hank Lafferty is charged with assault with a weapon, uttering death threats, assault, impaired operation of motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle while impaired, two counts of mischief under $5,000 and two counts of break and enter and commit.

Yellowknife's RCMP detachment commander Insp. Paul Richards said no one was cut with the knife. He added all the parties involved knew each other.
