Yellowknife (July 25/03) - Yellowknife RCMP have charged a man with the armed robbery of the Gallery of the Midnight Sun last January.

Krys McInnes, 31, is charged with armed robbery and committing an indictable offence while wearing a mask.

Police won't say if they acted on a tip. If there was a tip and McInnis is convicted, someone may be $10,000 richer.

After the Jan. 16 robbery, Yellowknife businesses posted a $10,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the masked man who held up the gallery's owner at gunpoint, making off with $3,197.

John Seagrave, owner of the gallery, said he's relieved that police have made an arrest in the case.

"That's good news," he said.

McInnis appeared in justice of the peace court on Thursday and returns for a bail hearing at 4 p.m. today.
