Diavik air contracts

Lac de Gras (June 09/03) - Diavik Diamond Mines has entered into air transport agreements with six Northern firms.

Arctic Sunwest Charters of Yellowknife will supply workforce charter services between Kugluktuk and the Diavik mine.

Diavik workers from Lutsel K'e, Fort Smith and Fort Resolution will be serviced by Northwestern Air Lease, of Fort Smith.

Tli Cho Air will transport workers to and from the communities of Rae/Edzo, Wha Ti, Gameti, and Wekweti.

Tli Cho Air is a joint venture between the Dogrib Group of Companies and Metis-owned Air Tindi, of Yellowknife.

The company will also use a newly acquired Dash 7 to transport cargo from Yellowknife to the mine.

Canadian North will provide jet service between Edmonton and the mine.

Two other northern carriers, First Air and Buffalo Airways, will provide specialized cargo services.
