Iqaluit (June 02/03) - It might not be as lucrative as a deal with the Nashville Predators, but that doesn't make it any less significant.

Jordin Tootoo has added another storey to his stature as a role model to Nunavut youth.

Premier Paul Okalik announced Thursday that Tootoo will be featured in the fifth series of posters produced by the Nunavut Government.

"He's a wonderful role model to all of Nunavut," Okalik said.

"Jordin joins a group of individuals that gives us confidence in ourselves and gives us the strength deal with the challenges we face."

The poster series was announced at the last sitting of the legislature.

Tootoo joins broadcaster Madeleine Allakariallak and George Mettuq, an electronic technologist, who also appear on the posters.

Okalik wished the Rankin Inlet native luck in his new career with the NHL, even if he is not on the premier's favourite team.

"I look forward to watching him even beat my Canadiens," he said.

Tootoo presented Okalik with an autographed stick and photo.

The premier was excited to learn he and Tootoo shoot the same way.

"I hope we can get the youth out there to get there education, they are our future," Tootoo said.
