Claren Aula, 18 months, died on May 25 at the Hall Beach Health Centre after suffering injuries during the fire.
The Hall Beach RCMP detachment is working with the Iqaluit RCMP Major Crime Unit and the Fire Marshall Office to investigate of the fire. A post-mortem examination will also be done to determine the cause of death.
"There was a total of five occupants in the residence. There's some mental trauma but nothing physical," said Saxby.
RCMP were on the scene at 11 a.m. It took volunteer firefighters about two hours to quell the fire.
Saxby said the community has rallied around the victims of the fire.
"The victims are with family members living in their quarters. Community members have donated food and clothing to them," said Saxby.
