Yellowknife (June 11/03) - The body found in the bush on the outskirts of Yellowknife has been identified as 23-year-old Issac Kimiksana of no fixed address.

Last week, NWT Chief Coroner Percy Kinney told Yellowknifer the man was known to abuse alcohol.

But Karen Hoeft of the Salvation Army said that's not the case.

Hoeft, who was a friend of the man, said she saw him daily at the Salvation Army.

They never called police or asked him to leave for alcohol -related reasons, she said.

"I'm not saying he didn't drink or party," said Hoeft, but she stressed he was not known to abuse alcohol.

"I'm saying I saw him daily.

"And I can tell you anybody I've talked to would disagree with that statement."

Kinney stood by his statement.

"That's not the information we have," he said.

An autopsy report is expected in 10 weeks but foul play is not suspected.
