Yellowknife (May 09/03) - Most of the booths that will be set up at the 21st Annual Spring Trade Show will be geared towards the interests of adults. However, the business community has not forgotten about the children of Yellowknife.

The Yellowknife Day Care will have a display of toys at its booth.

The day care recently became distributors of the educational Discovery Toys. The toys are used by the day care to teach children about shapes and counting as well as in other activities.

Linda Benedict, the executive director, said that the show should help the Discovery Toy business that enables the day care to purchase more toys.

At the trade show, people will be able to buy and order the learning toys.

The age group for the toys differs from 12 months to 10 years.

Being involved in the show will also make their names more visible, Benedict said.

"We are in 1,000 per cent better shape than in December," she said, talking about last year's troubles when the day care faced bankruptcy and a lot of bad publicity.

Yellowknife Day Care will be giving away a Discovery Toy as its door prize.

Girl Guides will have a display at the show about Guiding. The booth will have information on all four levels: Sparks, Brownies, Girl Guides and Pathfinders.

They will also have their famous cookies available for sale by the box and will have bookmarks and other giveaways for kids.

For their draw prize the booth will either have free registration for next year's Girl Guides or a vest.

Sport North will have a booth geared towards the whole family.

It will display the different programs and services it offers, including lottery information.

The business will also have information on Kidsport, a new program they offer. They will be playing videos from different sporting events.

Sport North will be handing out balloons, stickers and other fun stuff.

Similarly, Smart Communities will be giving away computer mouse pads, bookmarks and stickers.

Their booth partner Click It! will have kid sites displayed on their computers as well as tons of balloons.

At the First Air booth, kids will be able to get hats and t-shirts.

Nearby that booth, three Edmonton Eskimo players will be giving away posters and signing autographs for their young er fans.
