Commuter Challenge keeps air clean

Amy Collins

Yellowknife (May 30/03) - The Commuter Challenge begins this Sunday, Clean Air Day.

The national competition, designed to reduce the number of Canadians who drive to work alone, asks participants commit to walk, cycle, in-line skate, take a bus or carpool. Working from home -- tele-commuting -- is also encouraged.

The Commuter Challenge runs until June 7.

Participants can report their alternative transportation usage at www.commuterchallenge.ca.

A database will calculate the amount of pollution that was avoided during the week.
