Holman (May 26/03) - Holman is losing one of its long-standing employees this month.

After 13 years of working hard for the Holman Housing Association and the hamlet, senior administrative officer Eleanor Young is throwing in the towel.

Young has held the SAO position for almost eight years.

Now she has decided it's time for a change.

"I've been at it for a long time and I think change would be good for the organization and for me," she said.

Young and her daughter are heading to Yellowknife where she will take on a territorial government position.

She said she has fond memories of her time in Holman and believes the community has a bright future ahead of it.

"This is one of the most forward-looking communities ... this is a really special place and they have accomplished an awful lot, so it's been a real honour to represent them because they are really well-respected," she said.

And outside of work, Young and her daughter have had plenty of fun participating in community events such as the spring jamboree and golf tournaments.

"Everyone has been very good to me and the community is a wonderful place to be, but at the same time am excited about a change," she said.

Young's last day is Friday. The hamlet is currently seeking her replacement.
