Hay River woman receives Jubilee medal

Hay River (May 12/03) - Bonnie Crowther of Hay River was honoured for her work in the corrections service last week.

The supervisor at the South Mackenzie Correctional Centre was presented with a Queen's Jubilee Medal during a ceremony at the NWT legislative assembly on May 7.

She received the medal from NWT commissioner Glenna Hansen and director of corrections service Doug Friesen.

Crowther has been with the corrections service since 1982 and has been involved in the training and development of staff throughout the NWT.

She has had an exemplary career and has been recognized as a model for commitment.

Crowther was among 16 other NWT residents who received a medal.

The medals are part of the Canadian Honours System and have been approved by Adrienne Clarkson, the Governor General of Canada, on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II.
