Iqaluit (Apr 14/03) - Allen Kabvitok will appear at the Nunavut Court of Justice on May 21.

Kabvitok, 35, of Whale Cove has been charged in connection with the March 9 second-degree murder of Donna Kusugak.

Kusugak's body was discovered in her Rankin Inlet home by a family member who went to check on her. Her body was sent to Winnipeg for an autopsy which determined the cause of death to be strangulation.

At his arraignment last Thursday, defence lawyer Tim Kavannaugh spoke on behalf of his client via telephone from Rankin Inlet.

Kabvitok remains in custody at the Baffin Correctional Centre.
