"The matter is still under investigation," said McCambridge.

"And at this point in time no charges have been laid."

Last Friday, RCMP released a "public interest disclosure" warning the public that Mandeville, 32, is living in Yellowknife.

Mandeville was released from prison last year after serving nearly four years on two sexual assault convictions. He has been staying at the Salvation Army's emergency shelter.

He is on a two-year probation order requiring him to obey 28 conditions developed by the RCMP, probation services and the Crown.

He is not allowed within 50 metres of schools, libraries or any place where anyone under 18 is present.

Mandeville, originally from Fort Resolution, has been convicted of 13 criminal offences, four sex-related.

Two sex offences involved six-year-old girls.

The others involved an 18-year-old woman and his former girlfriend.

The convictions spanned a period from 1991 to 1999.

According to information in his court file, Mandeville is believed to have a 100 per cent probability of re-offending within seven years of his release.
