Inuvik (Mar 17/03) - A man was stabbed in the arm during a fight outside Frosty's Pub last Thursday, RCMP said.

The stabbing victim was rushed to Inuvik Regional Hospital and had not been released as of Friday afternoon.

A second man was also injured, but the cause of the injury was not immediately known to investigators. He was taken to hospital but released a few hours later.

Officers were called about a fight involving several men at 9:30 p.m. Alcohol was a factor in the incident, police said.

Three men were taken into custody immediately after the altercation and interviewed the next day.

Staff Sgt. Mark Wharton said charges have not yet been laid but RCMP "have recovered and secured physical evidence."

Four officers have been assigned to the case, but Wharton said details of the altercation are still unclear to investigators.

"Some witnesses have been reluctant to come forward and have slowed down our ability to clarify the situation," he said.

Wharton expected charges would be laid over the weekend.

He asked that anyone who witnessed the fight contact the Inuvik detachment or Crimestoppers.
