Robbery reward remains

Yellowknife (Mar 14/03) - John Seagrave is still hopeful that the man who held up his Yellowknife business at gunpoint will be brought to justice.

"These things take time, we haven't given up, the RCMP are still in regular contact with us," he said.

"They just haven't nailed the guy yet."

Seagrave said the $10,000 reward offered by Yellowknife businesses for tips leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible still stands.

Seagrave is the owner of the Gallery of the Midnight Sun, which was robbed by a masked white man at gunpoint on Jan. 16.

The man pointed a gun at Seagrave's chest and asked for money.

Seagrave was only able to provide a limited description of the robber because he wore a balaclava that showed only part of his face.

The man wore a dark blue snowmobile suit, and was about six feet tall and 165 pounds.

Seagrave said the reward money successfully sent the message that violent crime will not be tolerated in Yellowknife.

"We're pretty disappointed it hasn't been resolved but even if this lasts a while longer and it's no longer fresh in people's minds, we'll keep posting the reward notices around town."

Sgt. Al McCambridge said there is no further update available on the case.

"The investigation continues. There won't be an update until the status of the investigation changes."
