Norman Wells (Feb 03/03) - RCMP are coming up empty handed in their investigation of a robbery and beating in Norman Wells three weeks ago.

Despite a composite sketch of one of the suspects appearing on posters around town, and in News/North, police have received only a few tips so far, none of which have panned out.

"We're really at a junction here where we're wondering what direction to go," said Cpl. Ken Boone.

"That's where we stand right now."

Police are searching for two suspects: Young males in their late teens or early 20s, aboriginal, about 5-7 or 5-8 in height, with slim builds and close-cropped hair.

The victim, Colville Lake acting band manager Jimmy Tutcho, was only able to describe in detail one of the suspects.

He was beaten and robbed while returning to his room at the Yamouri Inn during the early morning hours of Jan. 14.

Boon said police are hoping analysis of fingerprints taken from Tutcho's room will lead to the suspects.

Several business, including the Yamouri Inn, Ernie MacDonald Land Corporation and the Deline Land Corporation, are posting a cash reward of $3,500 for information leading to a conviction.

"If they actually find somebody then we'll just send a cheque over," said Daniel Walton, executive director of the Deline Land Corporation.
