Three charged in drug bust near Enterprise

Enterprise (Feb 17/03) - Three men have been charged in connection with a $100,000 drug bust.

At about 1 a.m. on Feb. 8, Hay River RCMP stopped a vehicle on Highway 1 in Enterprise.

Police said roughly five kilograms of marijuana and 170 grams of cocaine were discovered in the vehicle. Cops said the drugs have an estimated street value of more than $100,000.

Charged with two counts each of possession for the purpose of trafficking are Patrick Edward Larocque, 29, of Hay River, John Compton Harvey, 70, of West Vancouver, and Kari Steven Partanen, 30, of Gibsons.

Harvey was held in custody and will appear in Hay River territorial court again today. Larocque and Partanen were ordered released, pending their meeting of the bail conditions. They will appear in territorial court on March 10.
