YKHSS reviewing financial administration

Yellowknife (Jan 17/03) - In three years Yellowknife Health and Social Services has grown from a $12 million organization to a $30 million one.

The growth is attributed to adding Yellowknife clinics and the communities of Lutsel K'e and Fort Resolution to the YKHSS sphere of influence.

"What we're looking for is what can we be doing better to provide the services to our client," said Greg Debogorski, acting CEO.

The review will take a look at the workload, staff mix and administration practices.

Debogorski said the review will identify what can be done to provide more efficient services whether that be a change in practices or the addition of more staff.

YKHSS currently has 150 permanent staff and 45 casual staff.

A draft report of the review is expected by Feb. 14 and the final report on Feb. 21.
