Yellowknife (Dec 24/02) - A new 18-song compilation disk is available from Weledeh school.

The self-recorded album features a variety of Christmas favourites sung by each class at Weledeh Catholic school, and one song by the school band.

The brainchild of assistant principal Dan Curtis a lot of work was put into making the disc a reality.

Music teacher Rose O'Reilly and teacher Lisa Bunin were instrumental in bringing the details together.

"I organized the content itself and worked with all the students getting them prepared," said O'Reilly.

Bunin said she organized the production side of the CD, but that was pretty easy.

"Rose did all the hard work, and the students did the singing work," she said.

The CD was compiled in the St. Pat music room with the help of Pido Productions.

Aside from being distributed to local radio stations, the CD will also be for sale at the school.

Proceeds will be used to cover the cost of the Christmas Concert.

Principal Merril Dean said the CD cost about $400 to make.

"It'll help pay the cost of the Christmas concert, if we manage to make the production cost," she said.

The teachers involved said the students had a blast making the CD.

"When the kids hear themselves on the PA system they love it, they go down the halls singing along," said Bunin.
