Yellowknife (Dec 20/02) - Five Northern students are receiving scholarships for top achievement from Augustana University College in Camrose, Alta.

Four Yellowknife students and a student from Kugluktuk were recipients of various cash scholarships.

Myranda Jayne Bolstad of Yellowknife is in her third year of a bachelor of arts. Bolstad was granted $1,633 for academic honours and leadership qualities.

Moriah Brook Hoyles of Yellowknife received $400 for demonstrating leadership qualities.

She is in her first year of a bachelor of arts degree.

Jennifer Karen Stroeder, also a first-year student, is earning her bachelor of science degree and was granted $1,667 for academic merit, non-Alberta university incentive scholarship and leadership qualities.

The fourth Yellowknife student is Miranda Dawn Sorensen Bye. She's in her second year of a bachelor of arts and received $250 for international study to Cuba.

Kugluktuk student Rebekah Shannon Halushka who received $500 as a supplemental university grant. Halushka is in her third year, working towards a Bachelor of Arts.

Augustana University College specializes in arts and science, management and music programs.
