Williams pleaded guilty to the allegations during a hearing, Dec. 9.
In an agreed statement of facts, Williams admitted he contracted with several clients to conduct repairs at his cabin and home.
But instead of paying them in cash for work completed, Williams began deducting legal fees owed to him by the contractor, whom he was assisting in developing a business.
The statement of facts revealed "(Williams) offset these accounts in a manner which caused confusion about whether he was doing that work in his personal capacity as a business consultant or as a lawyer."
It was also agreed between Williams and the law society that he "failed to properly explain the basis of his charges (to the clients) and the application of payments and credits received and failed to avoid unnecessary controversy over his fees and accounts with his clients."
Williams must pay the $5,000 by Feb. 28. He has also agreed to stop seeking payment from the clients in question.
