Yellowknife (Oct 23/02) - For the past three months the Stanton Regional Hospital Foundation (SRHF) has been looking for a new executive director.

The position became vacant when past director Sue Glowach took a job as communications officer with Education, Culture and Employment.

On Oct. 31 Linda Bussey will be behind the desk.

"We're very excited about her joining us," said Daryl Dolynny SRHF chair.

"We found Linda to be a very well-rounded individual."

Dolynny said with a major fundraiser wrapping up and one on the way it is good to have someone back in the driver's seat.

Bussey, an 11-year resident of the North, joins the foundation from GNWT where she is the succession and planning coordinator.

She has also worked with Stanton Territorial Hospital in the past where her focus was recruitment.

Bussey said her goals in her new capacity will be to do her best to promote the hospital and build on the successes of the foundation.

"We need good things happening around heath care and I see myself as bringing positive things and showing everything Stanton has to offer. It is a good facility," she said.

"I think the foundation is doing great things and I want to continue that and to make sure the foundation can be side by side with Stanton and putting the positive of Stanton out there and getting the territory involved in the facility."

Bussey said it is key to get the people of the North involved and investing in the hospital in order to bring in the necessary equipment and resources to ensure the hospital remains viable.
