Fort Good Hope (July 22/02) - Two youths from Fort Good Hope are in critical condition after a single-vehicle accident on Friday morning.

A Dodge pickup truck driven by a male youth lost control just after 6 a.m. Friday, police said.

The vehicle was headed out of town towards the hamlet dump when it crashed into a large pile of gravel and landed on its side.

All eight occupants were taken to the local clinic with multiple injuries.

Two were medevaced to Stanton Regional Hospital in Yellowknife and are listed in critical but stable condition.

Two youths were medevaced to Inuvik Regional Hospital, two were under observation at the local clinic and the remaining passengers were treated and released.

RCMP Const. Kofi Gordon said police are investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the accident.

He said it's too early to say whether charges will be laid.
