Yellowknife (June 26/02) - The friends and family of Allison Staff are looking to members of the community for help.

Staff, a 39-year-old driver with Diamond Cabs, had a stroke last Thursday.

Staff was medevaced to Edmonton on Friday, said Willis, and is in serious condition and being kept in a drug-induced sleep.

"She can't speak," said Willis, who is trying to co-ordinate a fundraiser for Staff and her family.

"I'd like to organize something where people gather outside City Hall with candles," said Willis.

"If people would bring candles and a $1 donation," she said. "And I want to put donation jars everywhere I can.

"She's a wonderful person and she's done so much for this community, I figure the community can do something for her now."

Staff has two children: Ragge, 2, and Meaghan, 17. Meaghan is in Edmonton with her mother and Ragge is being cared for in Yellowknife.
