Yellowknife (May 10/02) - After attending four Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce annual spring trade shows, Diamond Glass owner Brian Rendell has high expectations for this year's show.

"We've had great success at the trade shows, and a lot of feedback on it, lots of interest.

We expect this year to be even busier than last year," he said.

Rendell said he keeps track of the people he speaks to at the show and estimates he interacted with 400 to 500 last year.

"I'm busier here now than I was in June last year," he said.

Rendell's also becoming a bit of a space hog at the show, something he certainly doesn't mind.

The first year he set up one booth in the Yellowknife Community Arena, the second year two, and for the last two years he's constructed three booths.

The company's booths revolve around the renovation market, according to Rendell. They display windows, doors, hardware, mirrors and such. This year Rendell is setting up a 10-foot by 12-foot sunroom.

"We're planning giveaways, we're going to have a water dispenser courtesy of Arctic Springs, and stuff for the kids, like balloons," said Rendell.

Businesses in the trade show are at the mercy of Mother Nature, according to Rendell.

"A lot depends on the weather. If it's nice, people tend to stay away. If it's not nice, the weather brings people inside to the trade show."
