Inuvik (Oct 26/01) - A feast and presentations highlight events taking place Saturday to mark the 25th anniversary of the Ingamo Hall Friendship Centre.

Gloria Allen, executive director at Ingamo Hall, explained the organization began in 1965 and joined the National Friendship Centre in 1971, becoming incorporated on Aug. 26, 1976.

The group used a small building before Ingamo Hall officially opened in 1979.

Events get under way at Ingamo Hall Saturday at 3 p.m. with the annual general meeting. A feast starts around 5 p.m.

"We're going to be making some presentations to members of the community who have volunteered their time to be board members, or just for volunteering for friendship centre activities," Allen said.

Entertainment and an old time dance are slated for later in the evening.

"We're looking at having a drum dance, some square dancing from some of the youth square dance groups, and northern games demonstrations," Allen said.

"There'll be lots of good food and hopefully lots of participation."
