Delta Daze coming up

Events include prince and princess crowning, helicopter rides

Inuvik (Sep 28/01) - Plans are well under way for the annual Delta Daze.

Deb Enoch, president of the Inuvik Lion's Club, said she's hoping for a big turnout at this year's festival, which runs from Oct. 5-8.

A corporate challenge takes place on Oct. 5, where teams will tug on a truck The event is being sponsored by Inuvik Gas Ltd.

A casino will be held Oct. 5 and 6, and a television bingo takes place Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.

The prince and princess crowning takes place Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. at the Midnight Sun Recreation Complex. Also that afternoon, from 1-3 p.m., the kids carnival runs at Sir Alexander Mackenzie school.

Also that day, from 1-4 p.m., Canadian Helicopters will put on helicopter rides at a location yet to be determined. Fuel will be provided by Treeline Aviation.

The RCMP are sponsoring a pancake breakfast on Oct. 7, with the gold bar draw and steak barbecue also occurring that day.

Delta Daze concludes in the wee hours of Oct. 8, with a dance occurring from 12:01-4 a.m. at the recreation complex. Music will be provided by Deltaflood.
