Yellowknife (Sep 19/01) - It's new, it's informative and it's red all over.

Nunavut's Member of Parliament Nancy Karetak-Lindell launched a constituent-friendly Web page in her home town of Arviat last month.

The site is divided into Inuktitut, Innuinaqtun, English and French sections.

Two things stand out. The liberal amount of red and the easy access to her political life.

"It's another way for Nancy to keep in touch with the people of Nunavut," a spokesperson in her office said.

Everything you wanted to know about the MP, who also chairs the standing committee on Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and Natural Resources and the sub-committee for people with disabilities, is at your fingertips.

Ever wonder how different levels of government work? It's there. As are speeches and statements in the House of Commons and how to reach Karetak-Lindell by phone, fax, mail or email.

Statements go back to when she was elected to Parliament in 1997. She tackles housing and health issues and congratulates award-winning director Zacharias Kunuk on his win at the Cannes International Film Festival.

Clearly, layout kinks need working out. Overall, though, the site provides a valuable link to Nunavut's first MP.
