Inuvik (Aug 03/01) - About 50 children took part in week four of the town's summer day camp program.

The rugged urban camper camp wrapped up July 27 and was quite a success, camp counsellor Tracy Davison said.

"We went on a two-night camp," Davison recalled.

"We were supposed to camp outside in tents, but because of the (cool) weather, we stayed inside the rec centre, and the other night at the Lion's Den. But it was a lot of fun," she said.

"The kids had to help set up the tents. They had to do their dishes every day, all that lovely stuff."

A plug in-fire was set in place, and spooky stories were told.

During the week the kids also made crafts, including nature collages, in which they glued materials they found outside onto pieces of paper.

Davison explained that the kids also made dish bags out of dishcloths, and decorated and put their names onto them.

The children also got to tour the Inuvik Research Centre and the Western Arctic Regional Visitors Centre. They got to rollerblade and swim at the pool.
